When I first started, I very quickly became obsessed with it. I fell in love with the beauty of yarn, and the history of the stitches. I found it amazing that from one line of thread, and a single stitch, you could make anything.
Excited to show off what I thought were my new found skills, I took my needles and yarn over to my mom. She stopped me after my first row, took the needles and yarn in her hands, and then taught me how to knit like a lady.
This series started because of my fascination with knitting, love for painting, and intrigue in the community I discovered with knitters from around the world. I think about how it links me to my mother, her mother, and all the generations of women who came before them. Were all connected somehow.
